Backlit Poppies

Backlit Poppies/oil on board/ 4" x 4"/ SOLD
Another small painting for the Thirty in Thirty Day Challenge (link). I was experimenting with a background of different colors on this one. I used two greens, yellow and blue acrylic and then painted over it with oil.

Poppy Study

Poppy Study/ watercolor/ 8.5 " x 5.5"/ SOLD
Today's painting for the Thirty in Thirty Day Challenge was a warm up for a large watercolor painting I am struggling with.  My theme for the challenge is color, so I thought these lit poppies would fit. These are painted with  a lot of water.

Sunflowers for a Rainy Day

Sunflowers for a Rainy Day/oil on board/ 5" x 7"/ sold

Day 2 of the Thirty Day Challenge (link). To brighten a dull day, I decided to paint these bright sunflowers. The bright blue background makes the flowers appear brighter because it is the visual compliment of this yellow.

Are You Looking at Me?

Are You Looking at me?/oil on board/ 4" x 4"/ SOLD

This is my painting for Day 1 of Leslie Saeta's (link) Thirty Painting in 30 Days Challenge. If you want to see more than 200 artist's work today, click that link. Painting daily definitely improves one's painting ability. It will be fun to see whether there is a difference even in this month long challenge.

Reflected Gulls

Reflected Gulls/ oil on board/ 5" x 7"/sold
As 2013 begins, I wanted to paint something to remind me of one of the best parts of 2012. That would be the week at Hilton Head in Karin Jurick's workshop. Karin is a great teacher. Because she shares everything she can, she inspires her class to do likewise.

This painting is again oil over a pink acrylic ground. This time, I left even more pink to "warm it up".
